One Year Working at DM Elite

Last month marked my one year anniversary as Manager at DM Elite.

How I Got Here

I started at DM Elite in 2019 as a client on the 28 Day Challenge after a friend recommended it.

I was not a gym lover, I had been a member at other gyms but I could never to stick at it. I could never break the cycle of sign-up, go a few times, lose motivation and pay money for the privilege.

I wasn’t convinced DM Elite would be any different but I decided to give it a go (just for the 28 days).

I remember on the day of my first session I was TERRIFIED…I almost didn’t go. However, the moment I walked through the door, I felt so welcomed by the staff and by the existing members. Everyone was so friendly.

I instantly felt that this place was different. The session was tough, I really struggled with some of the exercises but everyone was so supportive.

I loved it and left the gym on a real high. The following sessions were the same – hard work but so enjoyable.

After seeing great results over the 28 days I decided to join – just for 2 more months though … to get that beach body for an upcoming holiday.

2 months came and went (as did the holiday) but I was well and truly hooked and coming to DM Elite had become a way of life for me, this was my going out, my socialising.

Some weeks I was at DM 5 or 6 times – what had I become? I didn’t recognise myself. There was no way I was cancelling my membership.

Then COVID hit but DM Elite kept everyone going through lockdown. I even ended up with a fully equipped garage gym, and anyone who knows me will know this would never have been me a couple of years ago.

Almost 2 years after joining as a member, Dan offered me the opportunity to join the team.

This was a big decision for me as I’d been in my other job for 7 years and I wasn’t actively looking for a change.

After a LOT of back and forth (sorry Dan and Aimee) I made the decision, this was an amazing opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. I was going to be working in an industry I had really developed a passion for, and with people that had somehow managed to change my whole outlook on fitness.

The last 12 months has been amazing even during what has been a difficult time for us all. I never thought I would see the day where I would enjoy coming in to work. I feel privileged to work here with an incredible team and wonderful clients.

What is my favourite thing about my role?

Watching and helping others in their DM Elite journey. I’ve been there and now I get to see others experience it too. I can share my experiences with them. I can get in the client mindset, because I was the client.

I can’t believe it’s a year already but I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and for DM Elite. Moving into this role was definitely the best decision I’ve made.

If you would like to get a chat about coming into the Gym, then it would be great to talk and help you on your journey, give you that kick start you may need.
